“Four Collies”

This piece demonstrates a large, fully developed pastel painting of four different dogs together. Two of the collies were quite elderly. Just like people, dogs tend to sag around the jowls and become rather gummy as they age. It is a particular challenge for me.
The owner of these four dogs lives in an upscale neighborhood of Connecticut. When I was shown into the back yard I was pleased to see that, instead of neatly kept perennial beds and patio furniture, the yard was entirely filled with agility equipment!
